As Salam alaykum,
I find myself here searching for my future husband. Since you are also on this site, no doubt you know how hard it can be to meet the right person.
I think I'm looking for what most people are looking for. I'm looking for an honest, faithful, loyal and sincere mate who has a balanced understanding of our faith and is a practicing Muslim.
I'm not interested in someone who is not practicing and considers himself Muslim in name only.
What I think is a recipe for a good marriage is:
Putting Allah SWT first
Following the teachings of Islam
Sincerity
Mutual respect
Compatibility
Honesty
Being there for each other
Patience
and of course Love.
In my opinion, if you don't have the other things in a relationship, you can't truly have love, wa Allahu alim.
Experience has taught me that.
I am flexible in many ways, but have zero tolerance for smoking, drinking or other drugs.
